Groovy, Man!

Sound was first recorded in the grooves of a rotating cylinder in 1877, and discs about ten years later. In the mid-1920s, we began to amplify the sound electronically for recording and for playback.

Although grooves can be worn down by frequent use, some early shellac discs have survived 100 years! With proper care, vinyl records should last even longer.
