Bill Mason: Canadian Canoeing Legend

Bill Mason: Canadian Canoeing Legend

The artifacts in this collection were owned and used by Canadian filmmaker Bill Mason who achieved international recognition for his wilderness and canoeing documentaries in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The collection includes cameras and other equipment in the 16 mm format widely used by documentary filmmakers in Canada at the time. The Mason family's donation of these artifacts in 2010 strengthened the Museum's collection of equipment and film-making technology used by Canadian filmmakers.
