A Rare Eclipse: the Transit of Venus
June 5, 2012 – 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Come watch as Venus eclipses the Sun right before your eyes. Safely observe Venus as it passes in front of the Sun through the 15-inch telescope in the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory. Look through one of our many solar telescopes on the Museum grounds, or wear your free pair of eclipse glasses to safely watch the show. To mark the occasion, we will also connect remotely with the astronomical experience in Hawaii and compare how the transit is being seen half way across the world. This rare astronomical event will not be seen for another 105 years, so don't miss out.
