Come to the Museum and do your part...recycle! Drop off your used car batteries and electronic waste at the Museum’s Great Recycling Event. Only electronic items approved by the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) program will be accepted. Dropoff is on Saturday May 15 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ONLY.

Tour the Museum and discover how easy it is to be eco-friendly. Take part in fun, hands-on activities, enjoy radical rhythms by the Junkyard Symphony group and speak to members of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa who will be on hand with a number of electric and human powered vehicles.

Electric Vehicle Fair
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Enjoy a display of electric, hybrid and human powered vehicles. Speak with members of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa and find out how you can become a green car owner.
Junkyard Symphony Show
2 p.m.
Enjoy radical rhythms and see how reused and recycled junk can be music to your ears.
The Big Green Board Game
11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Participate in our life-sized trivia board game and test your knowledge of energy facts and myths!
Powered Up
10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Get energized! Learn all about energy and participate in the “Power Up” challenge at this hands-on workshop.
Electronic Waste Recycling
The Museum is providing a FREE electronic waste recycling service—drop-off old electronics at the designated outdoor location on May 15 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. This event is part of the Museum’s commitment to keep electronic waste out of the landfills. Recycle! Do your part for the environment. May 15 ONLY.

The Great Battery Roundup
Prevent used car batteries from harming the environment. Drop them off at the Museum for FREE—CAA will be on location on May 15 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to collect your used car batteries for recycling and test your current car battery. May 15 ONLY.

- AC adapters
- Cell phones: cell phone, adapters, headsets, etc. (excludes protective cases/skins)
- Computer components: power supplies, motherboards, video cards, sound cards, RAM, etc. (excludes modems and routers)
- Computer peripherals: keyboards, mice, cables, drives, desktop printers—label, card, photo, combination, laser, inkjet, dot matrix, daisy wheel, etc. (excludes ink/toner cartridges), scanners (excludes uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), modems, and routers)
- Computers: desktop, tower, laptop, servers (including rack-mount computers or servers with or without racks)
- Desktop fax machines (excludes floor models)
- Diskettes: 3.5" only (excludes tapes, cartridges, CDs, diskette cases, diskette racks or other sizes of diskettes)
- Displays: closed circuit displays, combination TV/computer displays, monitors, televisions (CRT, LCD, LED, plasma) (excludes any items with bare or broken tubes)
- Rechargeable batteries: NiCd, NiMH, Li-Ion, small sealed lead acid (excludes car batteries and leaking batteries) Note: all batteries should be sealed in individual plastic bags or have electrical tape securely fastened over the connections as even depleted batteries can spark a fire if terminals touch.

- Diskettes (other than 3.5"), tapes, cartridges, CDs, diskette cases or diskette racks
- Glass electronic components (e.g. bare or broken cathode ray tubes (CRTs) or other vacuum tubes)
- Items containing mercury (thermometers, thermostats, mercury switches)
- Items containing radioactive components (e.g. smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, radon detectors, medical equipment, etc.)
- Items containing refrigerant (refrigerators, dehumidifiers, etc.)
- Kitchen appliances (except microwave ovens)
