Why the Soirée Matters

Funds raised by the Science and Tech Soirée will be used to support youth access to Museum education programs.

Locally, the funds will enable students attending school in communities facing socio-economic challenges to experience the Museum, when they might not otherwise have this opportunity. Nationally, the funds will bring the Museum to students in smaller, more remote communities through a set of innovative EDUKITS.

The Science and Tech Soirée, organized by the CSTM Foundation, allows guests to experience the Museum in a new way, while supporting youth education. The CSTM Foundation, established in 2008, provides much-needed philanthropic support to the Canada Science and Technology Museum. A major increase in private funding is required if the Museum is to realize its full potential as Canada’s premier science and technology museum. A world-class national science and technology museum is imperative for showcasing Canadian discoveries and innovations, which have transformed life both within Canada and around the world. Connecting with Canada’s science and technology history and accomplishments instills pride in our achievements and capabilities, while inspiring hope for the future.

It is essential that Canada’s youth, regardless of means or location, develop an appreciation for the role that science and technology have played in shaping today’s world. This will in turn help them to anticipate the impact of science and technology on our future lives. It is vitally important that our youth feel pride in what has been achieved, be inspired by what humanity has accomplished, and be excited at the prospect of participating fully in our future and transforming the world in which we live. These are the ultimate goals of the Science and Tech Soirée: The Magic of the Museum and we look forward to seeing you there.
