Evening Star Party

Friday, July 17 only at 9 p.m.

The Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory will be open for ongoing astronomy presentations. If the skies are clear, visitors will have the opportunity to look through the 15" refracting telescope.

Solar Observing

10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Learn about the history of the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory and have an up close look at the 15 inch refracting telescope. Safely observe the beauty and activity taking place on the surface of the Sun when you look through a solar telescope.

Planetarium Presentations
Star Struck

Explore the wonders of the night sky in the Museum’s inflatable Starlab Planetarium. Sign-up at the planetarium.

Limit: 20 people per presentation.

The Night Explorer

10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Learn how early navigators used a sextant to help them find their way. Make your own sextant and try your hand at using this fascinating tool.

Board Game
Night Sky

11 :30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Participate in our life-sized trivia board game and test your knowledge of the night sky!

The Science of the Skies

10 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Learn about some of the amazing phenomena in our sky. Make a meteorite crater, or a hissing comet nucleus!

Astronomy Bingo

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Discover facts and anecdotes about the science of the skies when you participate in this special scavenger hunt that the whole family can enjoy!
