Mind on Matter chemistry event at the Canada Science and Technology Museum

Become a budding chemist at the Canada Science and Technology Museum as you discover how chemistry touches your everyday life. Experiment with reactions that make rockets fly sky-high, and launch your own antacid rocket. Make “magic” mud, have fun with cabbage juice, and discover how light and chemistry combine to expose photographs. It’s all elementary during this fun chemistry weekend.

When: Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18, 2010
10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Where: Canada Science and Technology Museum

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Kitchen Science: Make “magic” mud, have fun with cabbage juice and get egg-cited about eggs! Explore neat experiments that turn your kitchen into a chemistry lab. Afternoon only

  • Rocket Chemistry: Explore the chemistry behind rocketry. Experiment with reactions that make rockets fly sky high and launch your own antacid rocket. Afternoon only

  • Chemistry of the Everyday: Discover how soda-pop and other household mixtures are made. It’s all elementary in this hands-on chemistry activity! Morning only
