Conclusion

Mass production made the Canadian canoe available to a large and appreciative public, and while the great era of commercial canoe building in Canada may be in the past, its legacy remains vibrant. This legacy is evident in the material culture discussed above and in the enduring popularity of the canoe both as a feature of Canadian recreation and as a symbol in popular and official culture of the Canadian experience.
