Chemistry Show Next Two Saturdays
at the Science and Tech Museum

Saturday, October 15 and Saturday, October 22, 2005
10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Ottawa — The Canada Science and Technology Museum and the Chemical Institute of Canada are putting on a Chemistry Show at the museum this Saturday, October 15 and next Saturday, October 22 to celebrate National Chemistry Week.

The show will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both Saturdays, and will include the following activities, designed to appeal to all ages:

  • Amazing Chemistry Magic Demonstration – Visitors really will be amazed at what happens when demonstrators mix different chemicals. They will also have an opportunity to meet chemists working in all kinds of interesting professions.
  • Hands-On Chemistry Experiments – Budding chemists can try making high quality slime or experimenting with chromatography.
  • Chemistry Craft – Everyone can create a wild take-home picture using some amazing exploding paint.
  • Once Upon a Time... – An unusual story-hour with a focus on chemists and chemicals.

All activities are included with regular admission fees. From trains to telephones, and satellites to snowmobiles, all the museum's activities and exhibitions offer a glimpse into Canada's rich science and technology heritage. Main exhibition halls and displays are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays, except holidays. Admission is $6; $3 for children (ages 4-14); $5 for students and seniors; $14 for a family (2 adults and 3 children); children under 4 are free. The Canada Science and Technology Museum is located at 1867 St. Laurent Boulevard and offers free parking on-site.
