Discover Canada’s rich scientific and technological heritage at the Festival of Technology

A unique opportunity to enjoy demonstrations of working treasures from the Canada Science and Technology Museum collection. Thursday and Friday, rediscover the Museum by taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the collection with more than 6000 land, marine, and rail vehicles such as the Popemobile, the Governor General’s train, and some of Canada’s oldest equipment

When: Thursday, July 17 to Saturday, July 19. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Canada Science and Technology Museum. 1867 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa

Highlights:

  • Collection Cruises demonstration: Keep your eyes peeled for a 1949/50 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn, a 1919 Rudge-Whitworth motorcycle, a 1929 Ford Model A pickup truck, and a 1975 Bricklin SV-1 from the Museum's collection;
  • Shay Locomotive: Take a 10-minute ride in vintage rail cars, drawn by a steam locomotive;
  • Casavant organ: Enjoy the lovely music of this 1932 Casavant organ, the only one of its kind held by a public museum in Canada;
  • “Baby Reliance” Printing Press: Try your hand at block printing on this classic piece of printing history: a scaled down version of the most popular style of iron hand press of the 19th century.
  • Medical Bag: Learn about all the tools a rural-Ontario medical doctor of 1880 – 1920 needed when making house calls.
