Bring Your Own Artifact: Show and Tell at the Canada Science and Technology Museum

This Sunday, the Canada Science and Technology Museum is offering a rare chance for visitors to display and share stories about their own artifacts.

The Museum invites people to bring an object from a subject area represented in the Museum’s collection (transportation, communications, energy, domestic technology, physical sciences, or space) to display to the public. Members of the Museum’s curatorial and conservation staff will be on hand to discuss the objects and their provenance, function, history, and preservation. Books, photographs, and trade literature relating to science and technology are also welcome.

Appliances, tools, and other objects from our everyday lives can help us to understand the connections between society and technology. For example, people in this region have shaped a rich history in broadcasting, telecommunications, and research. Museum staff are looking forward to meeting many people and hearing their stories about how these work-related or personal artifacts have transformed their lives.

In addition to the Show and Tell (display and consultation), the event includes activities and stories for kids, a display of the Museum’s books and trade literature, special presentations, and more.

The Canada Science and Technology Museum’s is celebrating its 40th anniversary of collecting and sharing Canada’s rich scientific and technological heritage. The Museum is open Tuesday – Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6; $3 for children (ages 4-14); $5 for students and seniors; $14 for a family (2 adults and 3 children); children under 4 are free. The Canada Science and Technology Museum is located at 1867 St.Laurent Boulevard and offers free parking on-site.
