The medicated approach to sex: are we never satisfied?

Tuesday, February 23, 2010: 6:00 p.m.
Fox and Feather Pub
283 Elgin Street
Ottawa, Ontario

Café Scientifique is a forum where, for the price of a coffee or a glass of wine, adults can get together and talk about recent -- and sometimes controversial --developments in science and technology. The Canada Science and Technology Museum and its partner the Canadian Museum of Nature serve as moderators to the discussion between invited experts and the general public. Lively discussions guaranteed!

Family, work and …in bed?  Do we need to stress about performance in every aspect of life? We live in a society always looking for instant gratification and too often emphasizing high performance. In responding to society’s trends and pressures, the pharmaceutical and medical industry is fuelling our obsession with performance. In the midst of this frenzy, is our approach to sex becoming too dependant on the medical world instead of upon natural desire?
