Science and Tech Museum Creates Wild, Wonderful Weather for March Break Program
Saturday, February 25 – Sunday, March 19
Ottawa — Visitors to the Canada Science and Technology Museum will recreate some amazing weather phenomena right in the museum during the Quebec and Ontario March Breaks, starting this Saturday, February 25 through Sunday, March 19.
Kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy learning how weather works as they make their own storms, clouds and snow. Visitors can also try their hand at forecasting and craft their own snowflake to take home. Daily activities include:
- Nature's Fireworks – At this activity station visitors will learn what causes lightning and thunder, and create their own mini-storm right in the museum!
- Rain, Rain Go Away... – For all those who ever wondered how clouds and rain are formed, visitors to this activity station will make a portable cloud and observe raindrop formation by making some themselves.
- The Science of Cold – Visitors will find out what causes avalanches, frost and snowstorms. And of course, since this is a hands-on museum, they'll make their own snow!
- Kids will also enjoy playing the Wild Weather Scavenger Hunt as they make their way through the museum, and everyone can test their weather knowledge by playing the life-size Weather on the Move Board Game.
These are just some of the activities being offered daily throughout both the Quebec and Ontario March Breaks.
Throughout the evening the museum's many indoor exhibitions will be open to the public free of charge. All outdoor activities will take place weather permitting.
All activities are included with regular museum admission. The museum is open daily from Saturday, February 25 through Sunday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6; $3 for children (ages 4-14); $5 for students and seniors; $14 for a family (2 adults and 3 children); children under 4 are free. The museum is located at 1867 St. Laurent Boulevard and offers free parking on-site.
