Kids Can Talk to Santa This Weekend
at the Science and Technology Museum

Saturday and Sunday, December 10-11, 2005
1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Ottawa — Kids can talk to Santa via amateur ‘ham’ radio this Saturday and Sunday at the Canada Science and Technology Museum.

The annual event is hosted by the museum in partnership with the Ottawa Valley Mobile Radio Club, and gives kids a chance to explore the fascinating world of amateur radio as they connect with the North Pole.

Members of the Radio Club will operate equipment in the museum’s amateur radio centre, located in the Nortel Connexions exhibition. Everyone who talks to Santa will receive a certificate attesting to their participation.

The museum is also providing a fun holiday craft for kids on both Saturday and Sunday, and families will enjoy visiting all the museum’s hands-on exhibitions, including the brand new Odyssey of Light exhibition.

Santa will be taking calls Saturday and Sunday afternoons, December 10-11, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. This activity is included with regular museum admission.

From trains to telephones, from satellites to snowmobiles, the Canada Science and Technology Museum’s activities and exhibitions offer insight into Canada’s rich science and technology heritage. Main exhibition halls and displays are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays, except holidays. Admission is $6; $3 for children (ages 4-14); $5 for students and seniors; $14 for a family (2 adults and 3 children); children under 4 are free. The museum is located at 1867 St. Laurent Boulevard and offers free parking on-site.
