Celebrate the Winter Solstice at the Canada Science and Technology Museum
Celebrate the shortest day of the year with indoor and outdoor activities that the whole family will enjoy. In the daytime, take a sleigh ride through the Museum grounds, admire the gorgeous view of the night sky in the inflatable planetarium, enjoy a tour of the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory, and curl up by the roaring “fire” to listen to stories about planets and stars.
In the evening, try your hand at stargazing at a free Star Party.

Highlights include:
- Technology Park Rides (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.): Enjoy the winter wonderland during a fifteen-minute horse-drawn sleigh or wagon ride through Technology Park.
- The Science of the Skies (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Learn about some of the amazing phenomena in our sky. Make a meteorite crater or a hissing comet nucleus.
- Starlab Planetarium (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Take in a gorgeous view of the night sky without having to stay up late or brave the cold. Cozy up in the indoor inflatable planetarium.
- Carolling (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Listen as the Dickens Carollers sing festive songs throughout the Museum.
Free evening Star Party (7:30 p.m.): Let Museum staff guide you through the night skies. Dress warmly: outdoor activity.
